The Tinker Impact Fund Has Arrived
Citizens of Donaldsonville, citizens of Louisiana as a whole, and people of the United States of America everywhere; today is a glorious day! As per this post, the Tinker Impact Fund will be an official arm of the foundation. In celebration of the beginning of the expansion of the organization, our new community members should know the story of the Tinker Foundation. In this post, people can find a summary of the foundation’s story followed by dedicated explanations of what the Impact Fund is, how it will operate, and why it is a vital part of the Tinker ecosystem. Welcome new and old Tinkerers alike.
The Tinker Foundation: What, Who, and Why
The Tinker Foundation is a social enterprise LLC headquartered in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. Our goal is to bring resources, aid, and empowerment to the underserved communities in our region. Research and statistics point to substantial fiscal inequities amongst the city’s residents and we are passionately committed to bringing solutions to improve the quality of life in our communities. The foundation plans to strategize and deliver several social initiatives, stimulate local job markets through hiring staff, aiding local retail (and health services?), and much more.
This effort is being spearheaded by Tinker’s stellar CEO, Jessica Tomapat, who is supported by a talented team of leaders. All of us have come together to bring needed change to the systems we live in. The Tinker Foundation is committed to its goals to elevate underserved communities, underscoring the neurodivergent people as well. Research continues to show that U.S. entities in the private and public sectors still operate on systems that favor neurotypical over neurodivergent. In addition, the unemployment rate of the neurodivergent population is higher than it should be. The Tinker Foundation will bring solutions to these barriers and challenges.
Enter the Tinker Impact Fund
The Tinker Impact Fund is the nonprofit arm of the Tinker Foundation LLC. This nonprofit will drive the consolidation of efforts to execute projects, initiatives, and build a strong administrative staff. Through this, the Tinker Impact Fund will help elevate the foundation’s efforts to promote positive change.
The social role of the Impact Fund is to cultivate sustainable community wellness, forward the economic empowerment that many groups (especially minorities and neurodivergent people) desperately need, and foster inclusive, cooperative systems in bureaucracy and general workplaces. Team members leading the Impact Fund will pursue success in the following ways:
Organizing wellness workshops
Educational programming (details to be expanded in future posts)
Mutual aid efforts
Holistic healing services
These programs are offered in person and online throughout Louisiana and applicable regions.
Initial Plans and Ideas for the Tinker Impact Fund
As an up-and-coming organization, the Impact Fund has already accomplished some initial plans and services. They are as follows:
Hosting yoga and wellness classes with community partners
Creating cooperative food, household, and personal care supply initiatives
Free or sliding-scale community education sessions and retreats
Coordinating with local social service providers and partners for all-around support
